Long Synopsis
Johanna Ravn, a young teenager who shares her time between her friends and the Internet, is attacked and seemingly murdered while jogging in the forest. Later on at the mortuary however, Johanna wakes up and walks home. Back at her house, Johanna’s father Morten receives a phone call from the police announcing Johanna’s death. Morten simply assumes this must be a bad joke, as he’s just seen his daughter walk in the door, and hangs up. After a while he realizes, however, that Johanna is not the same. She is pale; she doesn’t express herself at all. Morten calls the police back. Johanna is taken to the hospital, where it is discovered that the attacker in the forest has used a special drill on her, destroying the part of the brain that stores memories. She has been ‘de-cerebrated.’ She acts like a patient with Cerebral Malaria: Her upper and lower limb extremities lock up and become severely contorted. Morten, convinced that her daughter still has residues of her past engraved in her brain, refused to pursue analysis, taking charge of his daughter himself. He shows her old super 8 films and photos of her childhood, but nothing helps. Johanna remains locked in her state of unawareness. Meanwhile, more identical attacks start happening to others. Unable to cure his daughter, and irritated by the incompetence of the police, Morten decides to seek revenge by himself. He embarks on a dark thrill ride of lost memories, conspiracy and zombie-like symptoms. Finding the mysterious darkness within is the source of the bizarre world he has uncovered.
